alan ….
The greatest crimes of FGM is that it lasts a lifetime, is irreversible and is often inflicted on young girls, often of toddler age, without anesthetic and by an amateur with a razor blade. The poor little things are ruined for life and they have no say.

If there’s a “cultural equivalence” in the west I’m unaware of it.

Also, male circumcision is not “the same thing”. To say it is, is deliberately deceptive and facile.

I wonder how many of the women trying to deceptively downplay the barbarity of FGM would have THEIR daughters butchered?

Also, circumcision does not rob the male of sexual enjoyment or prowess.

I’m so over the Left with their endorsement of barbarity and their lack of basic decency and their constant deception by over-reach.

It is not merely a cut. You can cut your fingernail. This is mutilation for a cultural purpose, to rob women of sexual joy and render them as breeders.

And if they are not able to produce sons (or anything) because of the mutilation, they are discarded for the second or third or fourth wife who produces a son, and they are left with a life of abandonment, humiliation, and abject poverty, if they have life at all.  The New York Times is culpable for not condemning this barbarian practice, and so are the so-called feminists who won’t condemn it.

More interesting … how many would allow it to happen to themselves?

I suspect some of them WOULD have their daughters butchered.
