Are you fixated? If so, you may be of serious interest to NSW police.
Have I got this right?
There is a pool of fixated persons out there in the community.
Individuals who pursue obsessive pre-occupations to such an irrational degree are known as ‘fixated’. They are characterised by abnormalities in their mental state, ranging from personality and cognitive distortions to major delusional and psychotic illnesses. (Blackstone, 2015)”
Because of the underlying abnormalities in their mental state, some members of this fixated group could be influenced by the teachings and exhortations of extremist, but sane groups, such as ISIS members or its supporters. Sane ISIS members or supporters will be handled by the NSW joint counter-terrorism team, while mentally ill, fixated persons will be handled by the Fixated Persons Investigations Unit. When acts of terror occur, the Fixated Persons Investigations Unit will be able to discern whether such acts were carried out by sane ISIS members or supporters or by mentally ill fixated persons, who may or may not have, been influenced by these groups.Hopefully research by the Fixated Persons Investigations Unit will show why some members of the fixated group are attracted to the teachings and exhortations of the sane, but extremist, groups like ISIS and its followers. This will enable the Fixated Persons Investigations Unit to undertake effective preventative and/or remedial action.
I think Blair might have it right!
